Cesarean birth is often misunderstood or even seen as "not as pretty or as beautiful in pictures" as vaginal delivery is. Well, I think all births are pretty and worth capturing. It's always hugely empowering to have a child entering the world. Some people choose to have a cesarean birth, and for some it might be unplanned. Birth photos and videos can also have a meaningful impact on the processing of the birth.
My client found me through a recommendation by a friend. The final decision to book me came from the dad, who was especially excited about it. Since birth touches the whole family, I always recommend having deep conversations about it. I've had several families actually, where the other parent wasn't "that excited" at first, but in the end decided to book a birth photographer.
I document hospital births, home births, gentle cesareans, free births, and they are all so welcome. Every birth story is worth remembering in a visual story. "In our case, the photo shoot wasn't limited to the birth. It continued until our kids got to see their new sibling the next day. It felt like this was all one package: pregnancy, birth, newborn, siblings and family photoshoots.
Now if I could go back in time, I would hire a photographer for all of my children's births. It's such a unique moment. I think that dad also deserves to live only in that moment. Let's let a professional capture those moments professionally."
